Profile: Clinical Executive Dr Mike Harrison
Mike has been involved with NDUC for more than 10 years, and set up the original GP out of hours co-operative with Dr Kevin McKenna in 1996.
Working alongside Dr Feeney, Mike oversees clinical governance, monitors performance and handles complaints. He also works with John Harrison on new business development.
Alongside his duties at NDUC, Mike is in partnership with his business manager Mr Paul Mitford at The Gables Medical Group in Bedlington Station, Northumberland, with a branch surgery in Cambois. The Group deals with almost 7000 patients and is commissioned by Northumberland Care Trust to provide medical provision to Acklington and Castington prisons, including regular surgeries, as well as on-call cover in daytimes and out of hours.
Mike's medical career also includes a stint as acting medical director of NHS Direct North East from 2002-2005 and PEC member of Northumberland PCT.
